Welcome

Supporting you and your pets to live successfully alongside each other in safety and harmony.

I offer one to one training and behavioural consultations for dogs and cats; guidance on getting a new pet – puppies, kittens, rescues and small furries, as well as a variety of workshops. My goal is to give owners the skills to prevent and to manage behavioural problems in their pets and therefore strengthening the pet-owner bond. I cover Herefordshire, Monmouthshire, Gloucestershire, and South Worcestershire.

My training and behaviour modification programmes are individually designed for each client and their pet, and are founded on up-to-date scientific research and using only reward based, force-free methods. I am fully insured with Cliverton and work closely alongside vets when needed.

Please don’t hesitate to get in contact to discuss which service is the most appropriate for you and your pet.

*Covid-19 Statement: Ideally appointments are face-to-face so everyone can get the most out of the session; however, where this is not possible due to the current Covid-19 situation, I am still able to help you and your pet as I am insured to provide my services online via Zoom.

About Nicola

I grew up around all sorts of animals and have always wanted to have better insight into the behaviour of both humans and animals. From an early age I questioned why animals and humans behave the way they do and what has triggered some to develop behaviour problems and others not. I have always been passionate about the welfare of animals and the need to provide them with the best possible environment and life skills, so that we can lead happy and healthy lives together.

My qualifications have provided me with greater knowledge about the relationship between humans and animals, and how their environment, learning, and emotions impact upon their behaviour. On a personal level I understand how everyone learns differently and how important it is to set each individual up for success, and this can be applied to both humans and animals. My experience with rescue animals has allowed me to have a deeper insight into how trauma can affect behaviour and the decisions that are made.

Animal behaviour is complex and much of the scientific understanding behind it is based on human psychology, although research into specific species of animals is now dramatically increasing. Therefore, after graduating from Swansea University with a BSc (Hons) in Psychology I went on to complete a Postgraduate Diploma from the University of Lincoln in Clinical Animal Behaviour. This course is one of only two postgraduate courses which are accredited by the Association for Study of Animal Behaviour (ASAB) enabling me to become a Certified Clinical Animal Behaviourist (CCAB) once I have completed supervised experience and two viva exams.

In order to keep up with this ever-changing knowledge base and to provide the best service possible to my clients, I regularly attend professional development courses and conferences in the behaviour field. Click here for a full list of conferences and courses attended.
